Home office artwork

It has become a lot more popular to work from home nowadays, so I decided to create this working from home artwork which is perfect for brightening the walls of any home office.

I love the turquoise geometric wallpaper and clean white furniture, but added a flash of colour with the chevron carpet and bright red desk lamp. I'm also loving the retro turquoise typewriter.

This working from home artwork is printed onto a thick watercolour paper and comes unframed. It's wrapped in a cellophane wrapper and gift wrapped in pink tissue paper - the perfect gift!

Balinese Beauty

I've recently been adding some stunning ikat bags to my store. Most of those have used fabrics that I bought in the bazaars of Istanbul, but the most recent addition is an ikat fabric I bought in Bali a few years ago. I was lucky to spend a week on the beautiful island and was intrigued by the amount of local crafts that were produced there. Being a fabric lover, I was most intrigued by the textiles produced and I came home with some stunning pieces.

Ikat fabric has a characteristic blurred effect and this is created by dying the design onto the threads before they are woven.

 The beautiful turquoise colour caught my eye and I decided to use a contrasting mustard fabric for the lining to add a flash of colour when the bag is opened. The lining is made from a vintage Japanese kimono fabric. I love the idea of mixing the fabrics of two different cultures in one bag.

This bag has a short detachable chain handle that can be held in the hand, worn over the wrist or worn over the shoulder. You can find it in my store here.

Fabric Friday

This Friday I'd like to mention a pretty Japanese cotton that I've had in my collection for a while. I love its vibrant purple colour and the pretty blossom design that reminds me of spring. This fabric has  recently been used for a custom order I had through my shop. A lovely customer from Derbyshire liked my fabric cuff bracelets but needed one that was a bit wider. She gave me the dimensions she required and the type of colours that she liked and I decided to go with the combination below.

The blossom fabric has touches of pink, yellow and turquoise and I chose a lovely turquoise blue cotton to use for the back of the cuff. I like to match the backing colour to an accent colour from the main design.

This cuff is thicker in width than the other cuffs I have made, and I really like it! I'm planning to make more in this width over the next few weeks.

 The cuff is held closed with a button and elastic loop closure. I covered the button with vintage kimono fabric in a matching red and green leaf combo.

Fabric Friday

There's nothing like a spot of hot pink and tumultuous turquoise to brighten your day! I bought these two stunning fabrics last week and can't wait to make them up into some gloriously bright clutch bags. They both have a butterfly motif and each will be given a suitably bright lining to compliment the outer fabric.

French turquoise

My recent trip to the South of France was fab and a wonderfully relaxing time. I was inspired by the colours used there, especially on the shutters. My favourites were the varying shades of turquoise and blue and they were the inspiration for my latest clutch bag design. It is made from a teal and gold Indian sari fabric pieced together with a blue Japanese obi fabric, which is then trimmed with a turquoise French ribbon - you can't get more international than that!

Another Indian gem

I think it's quite obvious from looking at my Etsy store that I like a bit of colour! This recent addition is no exception, using a combination of magenta pinks and turquoise shades combined to make a stunning clutch. The middle panel is made from Indian block printed cotton, the outer panels are made from a Japanese obi fabric, and the turquoise lace trim is French. I decided to use a deep turquoise cotton lining to compliment the trim.

Butterscotch and Beesting

The wonderfully named Butterscotch and Beesting is an Etsy shop owned by Sheffield-based Camilla Westergaard, who sells beautifully illustrated circus-inspired pieces in fresh turquoise and coral colourations. I love her cushion covers and digital artwork that follow the story of Miss Betty Butterscotch and Mr Bumblewick Beesting who run a circus of gifted animals.
