Drawing challenge

During the month of September I joined the Botanical Beasties drawing challenge on Instagram. It was hosted by a number of illustrators and consisted of a list of flora and fauna which we could choose from each week.

For the first week I chose 'Hummingbird and Hibiscus' and I used a vibrant colour palette of greens, hot pinks and turquoise. The pink of the flowers really zings on the green background,

For the second week I chose 'Frog and Foxglove'. I stayed with the same green and pink colour palette and added a fern in the background.

For the third week I chose 'Zebra and Zinnia' and created a wreath of zinnia flowers with the zebra head poking through. Zinnias come in amazing colours so I really enjoyed adding brights to this illustration.

For the fourth and final week I chose 'Rabbit and Red Clover' and changed my style slightly for this drawing, using a linocut look instead.

Praising the Polaroid

Today I came across the work of Amy Blackwell on Etsy and wanted to share some of it with you. She's a Nottingham based illustrator who is a self-confessed doodler and has just started dabbling into knitwear as well. My favourite pieces on her Etsy store are these Polaroid illustrations which praise the beauty of the classic Polaroid picture. You can see more of her lovely work here.
