New York - Day Two

Our first morning in New York was beautiful - blue skies and cool temperatures - so we headed to Washington Square Park to do a spot of people watching and soaking up the chilled out atmosphere.

From there, we carried on downtown, through Soho and then on to the South Ferry port where we jumped on a ferry to Governor’s Island. It’s somewhere I never even thought of going to when I lived here, but it has stunning views of Manhattan and an interesting selection of fun things to do such as bike hire and even camping! We sought out son fab hammocks and had a swing in those before we headed to a DJ session on the island, organised in conjunction with Threes Brewing Company a Brooklyn-based brewery that produces fine ales. After a few hours of great music and good dancing, we hopped on a ferry to Brooklyn and walked along the riverside taking in the amazing views of Manhattan. It really was magical! Final port of call was DUMBO to meet friends for dinner at Dumbo House with more stunning views over Manhattan. It’s housed in an old warehouse which also  has the buzzing Time Out Market in it. Perfect for a quick bite in any cuisine you fancy!
