Vintage kimono scarf

I have a wide selection of scarves in my Etsy shop, most of which are made from vintage kimono fabrics that I bought when I lived in Japan. There are so many fabulous kimono designs and they look great reimagined as decorative scarves.

This kimono scarf is made from a stunning kimono made from a bold brown and gold print using Japanese icons such as blossoms, chrysanthemums and maple leaves.

The kimono scarf is double-sided and is combined with a solid black kimono fabric on the reverse.

The scarf looks dramatically different depending on how you wear it.

Look up close and you can see the gold detail and gold embroidery. This metallic addition brings out the richness of the browns and terracottas.

This would make a great gift for a Japan lover. Each item is wrapped in pink tissue paper and can be sent straight to its recipient with an optional gift message included.

You can buy this scarf here.

Beach chic

'Beach Chic' was the prompt for last week's drawing challenge from The Tuesday Collective on Instagram so I drew this fabulous 1950s beach babe, inspired by a black and white photo I found online.

I chose a vintage-inspired colour palette of burnt oranges and teal blues which set off her golden tan perfectly. The yellow sun hat adds a pop of brightness.

Retro Inspiration

I've been having a bit of a retro moment recently and have just compiled a retro-inspired treasury list on Etsy. I have included some of the images here on my blog, but you can view the whole thing here as well as past treasuries here. I'm loving the honeyed tones and washed-out colours.

The Vintage Supply Co

The Vintage Supply Co was created in 2005 to offer "all kinds of vintage items for a vintage life". They specialise in 1940s to 1970s clothing, accessories and household items and are based in Florida. I love the choice of items on offer, but also the way that each piece has been styled. I'm loving the tulip chair duo against the teal blue wall, and who could resist a bright orange retro rotary phone?! You can check out more of their beautiful wares here or on my Pinterest page here.
