Happy Monday

Happy Monday! I hope a good weekend was had by all. The weather here in London town was beautifully sunny. On Sunday I went to Kew Gardens and it was glorious to be outside, surrounded by the beauty of the gardens and to spend time with my good friend Jane. I also went there to check out the Handmade at Kew event, which is an international craft event with over 150 designer-makers displaying their wares. This included ceramics, jewellery, fashion and textiles, glass, paper, furniture, metalwork, sculpture and interior accessories.

Wallflower London was one of my favourite designers, with beautiful ceramic flowers that can be hung on the wall.

Helaina Sharpley is a wirework artist who produces painstakingly intricate wirework art.

Little Axe produces cushions, curtains and wallpaper using digitally printed designs that start out as lino prints. The current collection Wild Habitats is inspired by Scottish wildlife, focusing on rare and endangered species. I love the little zipper pouches.

Sadhu is a company that produces beautifully soft handwoven cashmere scarves in contemporary colour combinations. Each one is handwoven in Kashmir using the best quality fleece.

Witts Design is a mother daughter team who has combined their knowledge of fashion, interiors and print to create a collection of screen printed and digitally printed nature-inspired printed items for the home.

Karolin Schnoor

I recently came across the work of Karolin Schnoor on Etsy and thought I would share it on my blog. She is a German illustrator living and working in London, who hand screenprints all her pieces using water based inks on paper from a local supplier. I love her use of flat illustration mixed with pattern and texture and the wistful feel of each carefully-considered pose.

You can see more examples of her lovely work here.

Atelier Kaneko

I was in the store Ecute recently and came across this lovely pop-up store called Atelier Kaneko. They produce beautiful handprinted items on thick natural cotton in juicy colours. I instantly wanted all of the items on offer. They have a nice selection of bags, as well as home items such as coasters and oven gloves. You can check out their website here for more lovely items.

Neon brights

I love these neon brights, created by North London-based company 'A Minds Eye', who has produced a series of juicily-designed items in hot pink and sportswear grey. I love the idea of a cushion with neon pink lace on a crisp white ground, or a rough-edged border in grey with a stencil of crisp white lace.

You can see more designs here.

Tick tock

I love these rather beautifully simple clocks designed by David Weatherhead for Goodd. The choice of colours are pleasing, and have been screen printed onto solid Douglas fir. The clocks are available in two designs - 'Segments' and 'Half'. 'Half' can be hung at three different points so that the half circle is at the bottom half, right half or in between, depending on your preference.

You can find the clocks at Theo.

Minimonos

I was first drawn to this Etsy store when I saw these beautiful black tree silk screened cushions. I then looked at the rest of the store and found that I loved it all!

It is run by Maite, a London based designer/maker who trained as a fashion designer but then discovered a passion for silk screen printing. She creates the screens and image from scratch and is inspired by many things, from industrial landscapes to 19th century illustrations. My particular favourites are the electricity pylon and gas cylinder holder cushion covers - dramatic modern pieces in a monochrome colour palette. You can see more of her lovely wares at her Etsy store here or on my Pinterest page here.
