Japanese maple leaves

Every now and then I dip into the drawing challenges set by @ellolovey on Instagram. I really enjoyed creating this challenge a while ago which was 'maple'. I decided to use Japanese maple leaves as my inspiration and created a selection of stylised leaves in a rich colour palette. It looks great as a repeat pattern and is now available to buy by-the-metre in my Spoonflower shop.

Each leaf contains at least two tones of the same colour and includes simple pattern detail.

This print looks great on a scatter cushion, available in various sizes in my Spoonflower shop.

It also looks great on a throw which can be bought on minky fabric or on performance velvet, which really brings out the colour of the leaves.

Autumnal foliage

Embrace autumn with these rich autumnal prints. Choose from a selection of acorns, leaves, and ferns in a palette of browns, oranges and mustard. These prints can be found in my Spoonflower shop on a variety of fabric choices or can be bought as ready-made items for the home.

My favourite addition to the Spoonflower product range is this wall hanging. It comes with wooden magnetic hangers and a variety of hanging options.

Acorn leaves are a really pretty shape and I chose a colour palette of rust, purple, soft pink and mustard on a fresh cream background for this print.

This print would look great on crisp cotton dinner napkins. Use them to decorate an autumnal dinner table or use them at a Thanksgiving meal.

Fern leaves have a lovely delicate feel and lend themselves perfectly to a pretty fabric design. I've created several versions of this print, but love it on the rich brown background.

Envelop yourself in this fern print by having it printed onto an ultra soft minky throw. The perfect hygge for a cool autumnal evening.

My mushroom print looks great in this colour palette. Buy it by-the-metre and create autumnal projects with it. It would look great as little girl's dresses or as a cute pencil case.

The mushrooms look great on these cocktail napkins.

At this time of year, some of the leaves are changing colour and some are still green, so I incorporated that idea into his leaf design. This design is on a brown background but I also have a cream version.

This leaf print looks great as an autumnal throw pillow.

Autumn delights

I love this time of year. The leaves are changing colour and the weather is beginning to turn a little colder. To celebrate this I decided to add some autumn-inspired items to my store which include sweet apple designs and bright leaves in lovely fall colours. The leaf fabric is a cotton furoshiki that I bought in Japan. Furoshiki is a traditional fabric used for wrapping presents and they come in many interesting varieties. When I first moved to Japan I was intrigued by the choice of colours and patterns on offer and bought many of them for my fabric stash.

With the apple fabric I made a coin purse and card case combo. The red and white polka dot fabric was the perfect lining for both items.

The leaf fabric is a bold orange and beige colour and I decided to make a fab little tissue holder and glasses case. The perfect lining for these items was a brown and beige leaf fabric from Liberty.

Leaf Patterns

A recent trip to Singapore meant that I got to go to the stunning Botanical Gardens there. It was a lovely haven away from the noise of the traffic and heaven for any textile designer! I became obsessed with the patterns that the beautiful tropical leaves created and am hoping to use it as inspiration for some new fabric designs.
