Green butterfly clutch bag

I love a butterfly print and I love a green clutch bag and this does both! It's made from a fabulous cotton vintage Japanese kimono fabric with a butterfly print in bright purple, yellow, pink and blue.

I used a hot pink cotton lining for the clutch bag, which matches the pink of the butterfly. I also added a hot pink tassel to match the lining.

The clutch bag has a green zipper closure to keep everything safe, and the bag is lightly padded to protect its contents.

Look up close and see the detail of the butterflies. Some are filled with colour and some are just outlines.

This makes a great gift for someone special, a truly unique item! It also makes a great summer clutch and is the perfect accessory to a summer wedding.

Pretty patchwork clutch

 I have a great selection of clutch bags in my Etsy shop and this one is so much fun. It's made from a combination of Japanese cotton fabrics that I have patchworked together, using shades of pink, purple, green and yellow.

I use this as a clutch bag but it could be used for so many other things. It's great as a makeup bag. It's made from 100% cotton so machine washable.

Fabulous new addition to my Etsy shop, this black and white clutch bag is made from a thick woven fabric and has a matching red and white woven ribbon trim along the top edge.

The clutch bag has a contrasting red cotton lining that matches the red of the ribbon trim and is lightly padded to protect its contents. It would also make a great tablet case.

Look up close and you can see the detail of the design. The black and white fabric has a hint of pink and red running through it. The ribbon is made from a Navajo-inspired geometric design.

Obi clutch bag

 When I lived in Japan I spent a lot of time trawling the vintage markets and shops, discovering amazing fabrics to make bags with. I bought a lot of kimonos but I also bought obi fabrics. The obi is the 'belt' that goes around the kimono and they are often made of thick, woven fabrics in amazing designs and colours. The thick quality of the fabric lends itself perfectly to making clutch bags.

This clutch bag is made from an obi I bought in Japan. It has a bold stylised floral design and comes in shades of orange, yellow and gold.

The clutch bag has a cream zipper and is lined in a thick orange satin fabric. The size of the bag means it can be used as a clutch bag or as a tablet case. It's lightly padded to protect its contents.

Look closely and you can see the detail of the design. Metallic gold has been incorporated into the design which really gives it a special feel. Great for using as on a night out or as a wedding clutch.

Pretty in pink

 I designed this pink sarasa print for Makower UK recently. It's part of a collection called Tropica that includes jungle animals and tropical foliage in a bright colour palette. This sarasa print comes in three colour options but the pink one works especially well for bag-making.

I mocked up a few bag styles to see how this print would look. The first one is a cute clutch bag which would make a great addition to a wedding outfit or summer party frock.

I love these cross-body bags which always seem o fit so much in, despite their size and they fit conveniently across the body. The adjustable strap means you can also make it into a shoulder bag if you wish.

I love a tote bag and this one would be great for the beach. It's big enough o fit all the essentials for a day by the sea,

 I'm loving this clutch bag that was recently added to my Etsy shop! It's made from two vintage Japanese obi fabrics that have been pieced together. One of the fabrics is a bold, red and white stylised floral print which incorporates chrysanthemums and leaves with a scroll design. The other fabric is a geometric striped woven obi which works really well as the base of the bag.

This clutch bag is big enough to fit the essentials for a night out and adds a great accent to any outfit. It would be perfect as a wedding clutch or as an evening purse. It could also be used as a handbag organiser or as an iPad pouch.

Black and silver clutch bag

When I lived in Tokyo I collected a massive selection of obi fabrics from the shrine sales I went to around Tokyo and beyond. The obi is the 'belt' that goes around the kimono and is often brightly coloured with a strong design motif. They are also usually made from a thick, woven fabric which lends itself perfectly to making stunning clutch bags.

This clutch bag is made from two different obi fabrics that I have sewn together. One obi is a silvery-white colour and has a chrysanthemum design woven into it. The other is a stylised black and silver leaf design.

This clutch bag is the perfect accessory for a night out and is big enough to carry phone, keys, makeup etc.

It's fully lined and has a zipper closure to keep everything safe. This clutch would make the perfect gift for a Japanophile.

Purple kimono clutch bag

 I'm loving this purple kimono clutch bag which uses a combination of vintage Japanese kimono pieces from my collection. Each piece has been carefully considered to create a truly unique accessory.

On one side of the clutch bag there is a combination of florals and geometric motifs. The floral on the left looks almost hand-painted and has a variety of shades that give it depth and detail. The middle print is a stylised version of a chrysanthemum. The right hand fabric is a simple geometric motif.

On the other side of the clutch bag I've used two patterned fabrics, one is the geometric motif, the other creates a criss cross ikat pattern in shades of red, teal and yellow.

I've added a fabulous matching purple tassel to the zipper pull.

This clutch bag is perfect for storing essentials for a night out and makes a great wedding accessory. Team it with the purple kimono scarf to make a great gift combo for someone special.

 I'm absolutely loving this recent addition to my Etsy shop! It's a clutch bag made from vintage Japanese kimono fabrics in shades of red, pink and orange. I have a wide selection of kimono pieces in my collection and this is the perfect project for bringing them all together to create something truly unique and different.
