This Friday's fabric choice is a beautiful vintage Japanese obi. The obi is the sash that goes around the kimono and often comes in vibrant colours. I love the way that Japanese women mix their obi with their kimono, often in very differing shades and designs, but they always look stunning.
I picked this one up at an antique market in Tokyo and loved the vintage pink mixed with vibrant red, turquoise and gold. I'm still working up the courage to cut it up and make it into a clutch and at the moment I'm looking for the perfect lining fabric to match. A pretty kimono perhaps? I have a lot to choose from!
