Torii gates

In Japan there are many torii gates in stunning orange hues. The torii gates are most commonly found at the entrance to a shinto shrine and mark the transition from the profane to the sacred. I have always loved their awesome presence and was amazed by the amount of them at the Fushimi Inari Taisha shrine in Kyoto.

I was very excited to rediscover a torii-inspired fabric in my stash recently, and so decided to make up a coin purse and cosmetic bag in the fabric, with a bright orange polka dot lining. I will be selling them at the International Bazaar in Tokyo next week!
