Atelier

'Atelier' is a collection I designed for Makower UK recently and it was inspired by the timeless traditions of sewing using antique and retro images in a soft colour palette.

The main print is called Couture and includes sewing machines, notions and mannequins. Look closely and you will see that there is a texture underneath, inspired by dress pattern pieces.

The Spool design shows crowded cotton reels with the labels as the main focus.

Tape measures create a stripe design in this Measurements pattern.

Pretty patterned Buttons are loosely scattered, with a tonal running stitch in the background.

An inclusion of soft blue to the Couture design adds variety to the collection.

Tiny Notions in include decorative scissors and pin cushions.

A deep grey on the Buttons design adds depth to the collection.

My grandma had a blue measuring tape in her sewing box and this Measurements print reminds me of that.

Studio shots

A few people have shown an interest in my studio and what actually goes on in it, so I thought I would share some images which my hubby kindly took of me hard at work! They give a little feel for what I do and the process I go through to make each item.

This is the cutting table where I cut out all the fabric. Note the bag collection in the background!

Each item is sewn by me at my sewing table.

All website images and promotional items are designed by me.

Before an order is sent off, I gift wrap it in pink tissue paper held together with a floral seal and Japanese washi tape.

A Cheeky Leopard postcard is also included with each order.

Snip snip!

I've been really enjoying making my card cases and now have a little stash that I will be adding to my Etsy store over the next few days. I love mixing up combinations of fabrics and finding fun prints that work together. The latest is this little number, made from a red and cream scissor fabric mixed with a multi stripe, and a green and cream polka dot lining. The case can fit up to 8 cards and can be used as a credit card, travel card or business card case.

You can find it in my Etsy store here. Watch this space for more additions!
