Retro iPad typewriter

I just came across this item on Etsy and had to give it a quick mention. I love the full-on return to retro, combined with the sleek modernity of the iPad. The beautiful old-style typewriter has been modified to work as a USB keyboard and is fully functional as a computer keyboard. If the item is not your style, you can customize your own typewriter using their DIY conversion kit. Genius!

Check it out here.

Forks and Stripes

I've just added these little coin purses to my Etsy store. I love the quirky print of the forks and spoons, with the flash of lime green inside. The deckchair stripe reminds me of lazy days at the beach and I love the flash of coral polka dot lining. The wooden bobble detail on the clasp gives them a slight retro feel.
You can see more bobble clasp purses here.

Retro Inspiration

I've been having a bit of a retro moment recently and have just compiled a retro-inspired treasury list on Etsy. I have included some of the images here on my blog, but you can view the whole thing here as well as past treasuries here. I'm loving the honeyed tones and washed-out colours.

The Vintage Supply Co

The Vintage Supply Co was created in 2005 to offer "all kinds of vintage items for a vintage life". They specialise in 1940s to 1970s clothing, accessories and household items and are based in Florida. I love the choice of items on offer, but also the way that each piece has been styled. I'm loving the tulip chair duo against the teal blue wall, and who could resist a bright orange retro rotary phone?! You can check out more of their beautiful wares here or on my Pinterest page here.

Claudia Varosio

Claudia Varosio is obviously someone who has a passion for film and has realised this passion in a series of beautifully simple posters depicting images from classic films such as 'Goodfellas', 'Jaws' and, one of my favourites, 'The Lives of Others'. She likes bold images inspired by comic novels and vintage posters and has used this inspiration to produce some stunning pieces with her own take on some classic titles. You can check out more of her work here or find some of her work on my Pinterest page here.

Everything But The Kitchen Sink

I have just added this little Florence clasp bag to my Etsy store. I love the retro '50s kitchen print with its simple images in bright colours. I decided to add a fab mustard yellow geometric lining to complement it. The design reminds me of the prints by Patrick Edgeley that I mentioned in a posting on February 14th.

Simple Domesticity

I was drawn to these gorgeously simple yet effective retro prints by Patrick Edgeley, a graphic designer turned print maker based in Brighton. He loves to bring type and vibrant colours into his work and each piece is hand printed. I love the retro feel yet the bold and vibrant colours give it a modern feel. Patrick sells his work through his website, but you can also buy it as framed artwork at Heals.

I'm also loving this simple Butcher print from Flavor Paper. They produce unique vintage, contemporary, and custom handscreened wallcoverings in bold colourings and funky images. On closer look, this one has a rather dark side to it, but I love the bold colour and graphic images.
