Happy Halloween!

This month @ellolovey has hosted a drawing challenge with a different prompt word each day. I haven't been able to take part in every day, but have enjoyed dipping in here and there. Here is a little taster of what I've created.

These ghosts are so cute I don't think they would be capable of scaring anyone!

I wanted the bats to be on a patterned ground and the spiderweb design was perfect for that. Can you spot the mini spider here and there?!

Although these pumpkin lanterns are scary, they are also quite fun. I liked the rich colour palette on this illustration and I wanted the pumpkins to be in a variety of shapes and sizes.

These insects are slightly more sophisticated in style and I love the deep purple background.

For the skeleton word prompt I decided to tap into the Mexican style of the Day of the Dead, using skulls in a variety of colours and patterns.

Interesting insects

Today's word for the #doodleadayoct drawing challenge from @ellolovey is 'insects' and I created this print using the very pleasing colour palette that Rhianna provided for the challenge. I love the deep purple background and the rich colours of the variety of decorative bugs sits perfectly on top.

I also designed this illustration on a cream background. Which one do you prefer?

This is the colour palette for October's drawing challenge.

You can also join in with this challenge using the prompt list below.

Retro bugs

I decided to enter into the latest Spoonflower design challenge which is called 'Retro Bugs'. I've been doodling butterflies, moths, beetles and ladybirds in a 1950s style with a colour palette of lime green, teal and terracotta. It was a lot of fun to design and I'm really happy with the result!

Dragonflies flutter amongst stylised foliage in this soft blue design.

An army of space invader ladybirds in shades of teal, orange and green.

This floral looks lovely and rich on a dark teal ground. It can also be found in my Spoonflower shop in a variety of colour palettes.

Little and large stylised butterflies in a variety of colour combinations.
