Hello Halloween!

If you're looking for some last minute Halloween prints, look no further! My Spoonflower shop has a great selection of spooky prints, from bats and pumpkins to skulls and ghosts.

I'm loving this bat print on a deep orange ground with white spider webs in the background. You can also find this print on a yellow background, blue background or purple background.

This pumpkin design makes a great print for a tablecloth or for halloween decorations.

This skull print is inspired by the Mexican Day of the Dead designs. Each skull has been decorated with stylised images of flowers, leaves and scrolls and they sit on a black background.

Cute ghosts hold pumpkins and sit on a black background.

Brilliant bat purses

These brilliant bat purses are made from the fabric design I created for my Spoonflower shop. They come in four different colours and make a great Halloween gift.

This is the blue bat purse.

It comes with a black lining and matching black zipper closure and is a great place to stash your trick or treat sweet treats.

The orange bat purse is a traditional Halloween colour.

It's lightly padded and perfect for using as a handbag organiser.

The purple bat purse is a great gift for a goth.

Use it as a gadget pouch or makeup bag.

I love the yellow bat purse.

It makes a great travel bag, where you can store smaller items.

You can find all four bags here.

Pumpkins

I can't believe it's October already! I'm celebrating this fabulous time of year with a fun pumpkin print available in my Spoonflower shop. Novelty pumpkins in shades of orange, red and yellow sit on a black background and make the perfect addition to any spooky celebration.

I especially love the tableware available in my Spoonflower shop. These pumpkin napkins can be bought on a cotton canvas fabric or a sateen fabric and make a great addition to a Halloween table decor.

The pumpkin tablecloths come in a variety of sizes and shapes such as rectangle, square and round.

There are also pumpkin placemats  that are made from either linen cotton canvas, cypress cotton canvas or sateen.

Happy Halloween!

This month @ellolovey has hosted a drawing challenge with a different prompt word each day. I haven't been able to take part in every day, but have enjoyed dipping in here and there. Here is a little taster of what I've created.

These ghosts are so cute I don't think they would be capable of scaring anyone!

I wanted the bats to be on a patterned ground and the spiderweb design was perfect for that. Can you spot the mini spider here and there?!

Although these pumpkin lanterns are scary, they are also quite fun. I liked the rich colour palette on this illustration and I wanted the pumpkins to be in a variety of shapes and sizes.

These insects are slightly more sophisticated in style and I love the deep purple background.

For the skeleton word prompt I decided to tap into the Mexican style of the Day of the Dead, using skulls in a variety of colours and patterns.

Tokyo trip - Day one

Well, after quite a while of not posting on my blog, I should have quite a lot to talk about as I am now on my annual trip to Tokyo! I really have hit the ground running, and with limited time to fit in everything I want to do, it just has to be done. I easily found my way from the airport to my new home for the next week, a lovely little apartment in Shibuya found through Airbnb.

I dumped my suitcases, had a quick shower and then headed out to Roppongi Hills to meet up with my friend Tatsuya to see an exhibition of Takashi Murakami's work. He is heavily influenced by anime art and works on grand scales and in vibrant colours.

After a scrumptious meal of juicy tonkatsu (deep fried breaded pork) we headed over to Blue Note, old school-style supper club, to see the wonderful Kamasi Washington and his band play a mix of jazz, funk soul and all sorts in between!

The evening ended with the obligatory bustle through Shibuya where the hordes came out en masse to celebrate Halloween. It was fun to see all the random costumes but I have to say, I was glad to get back to the safety of my lovely little apartment and the comfort of my bed!
