Silken beauty

This silken beauty has just been added to my store. It's a double-sided silk scarf made out of kimono pieces from my collection which have been sewn together. I started with a stunning orange and cream floral kimono as my inspiration and then created the scarf around that, piecing it together with a black and white stylised chrysanthemum fabric. The other side of the scarf is made from a black silk fabric pieced together with a black and white geometric kimono fabric.

Cute cats

I do love a cute cat fabric and recently bought a fab one from The Eternal Maker. I loved its quirky feel, but also the colour combination of grey and gold with a hint of pink. I also found the perfect lining for it, a yellow and silver geometric fabric. So I've now made up two new items for my store. One is a small coin purse, which is the perfect size for carrying small change or for keeping earbuds in. The other is a small cotton purse with a detachable chain handle. One of the best things about this purse is that the clasp has a pretty star detail on it.

A green gem

This fabric has proven to be a popular one and you can see why, with that brilliant green and strong geometric design. It's made out of two Japanese obi fabrics that I pieced together. This time it comes with a silver clasp and silver detachable chain handle, so that the bag can be used as a handbag or a clutch. The piece de resistance is the flash of hot pink lining when the bag is opened. I love it!

Every now and then I like to mention the work of a designer I admire. This time I would like to mention the work of Becky Kemp, an artist and crafter living in England. She is inspired by playful geometric design as well as expressive Japanese illustration and has created some beautiful paintings, posters, brooches and wooden figures which she sells through her Etsy store. I love her use of fresh colours, combined to produce beautifully simple, modern pieces.
