Labour Day weekend

Labour Day officially marks the end of summer in the States. I have to say, here in Tokyo there is no sign of summer coming to an end yet. The heat is still relentless. To celebrate Labour Day weekend, my fishy tote bag was featured in this lovely 'Labour Day Long Week-End ' treasury by FigmentandRather.

There's something fishy going on....

I just added this set of three items to my Etsy store. I love the blue and white nautical fish print which is so summery and fresh. The coin purse is big enough for small change or iphone headphones, and fits easily into the gadget pouch, which also has room for phone, keys, makeup and sunnies. They both match the tote bag which combines the fish print with a natural linen panel at the bottom and has two sturdy canvas shoulder straps. All of them have a fresh cream lining and would be perfect for a day at the beach. Bring it on!

Under the sea

I just added this cute little gadget pouch to my Etsy store. It would make the perfect companion for a day at the beach and is big enough to fit sunnies, phone, keys and makeup, and some sun cream of course!

Mod Animals

I love this new melamine collection by Jonathan Adler. At first the designs just look like simple, fun geometrics, but on closer inspection you can pick out a turtle and some fish that make up the design.....

Oh Boy!

The Japanese celebrate boy's day on the 5th of May and this is when families pray for the health and future success of their sons by hanging up carp streamers and displaying samurai dolls. These both symbolise strength, power and success in life and you can see many of them around Tokyo now, either as small offerings, or more like these massive statements. I love the strong graphic design of them and think the scale motif would make a lovely allover print.
