The World Beyond

Molly Rausch is a painter who likes to see the bigger picture, but on a small scale. Fourteen years ago, she started her project of glueing down a stamp onto paper and then painting around the stamp, to extend the scene and imagine the world beyond. Everything is done freehand with a brush and watercolour. She does not paint on the stamp itself, and she does no research into the subject, so the extension is completely invented, creating a tiny 3 inch, imagined world.
You can see more of her work here.
