Fabric Friday

It's Fabric Friday time again! And I thought I'd mention these three little lovelies that I picked up on my last trip to Tokyo. They are all modern fabrics that are inspired by traditional kimono designs and I bought them in a lovely little kimono shop in Azabu Juban called Kimono Arts Sunaga. I'm now looking forward to making them into fun clutch bags and purses, each with a vibrant lining.

I am often drawn to bright colours which is why I chose these fabric pieces.

This cotton fan design uses pretty peach and pink colours on a black ground.

I love the bright purple colour of this cotton mini blossom design. It works nicely with the touches of coral pink and turquoise.

This bold floral is a chirimen fabric. The mini design in the background is made to look like shibori, a Japanese tie-dying technique.

New fabrics

I am now back in London after a fab week in Tokyo. The International Bazaar went well and I got to catch up with a few friends (sadly not all the ones I'd have loved to) and sampled all the wonderful food I have missed since leaving Tokyo.

Needless to say, I went pretty crazy with the fabric shopping too and came back laden with goodies. Here is just a little sample of some of the pieces I bought.

I love this Fuji-inspired print.

Who could resist a cute dancing ninja?!

The torii gates were a popular print last year and I managed to find more.

Red daruma dolls.

The scale of these yellow fans is quite large and would be great on a clutch bag.

Kokeshi dolls are so sweet.

Fave Fabric Friday

This Friday's fave fabric is a beautiful vintage kimono fabric that I bought in Japan. It's been a while since I have had a forage through my collection of kimonos and this one really hits the spot! I love the softness of the pink background, the graphic grey wave motif and, of course, the beautiful blossom fan design.
