Roller girl

 Bring out your inner roller girl with these rollicking roller disco prints! Inspired by an illustration I did a while ago, I decided to create some fun prints for my Spoonflower shop which include roller boots, disco balls and stars.

Nursery decor

 There are so many inspiring ways to decorate a nursery, from the traditional pink or blue colour palette to stronger earthy colours or simply creams and beiges.

I love the paint splatter wallpaper above that adds colour to the room in a fun way. Shades from the wallpaper have been used in accessories in the room such as the pink chair and the cute cloud cushion.

This mother and child giraffe print makes a great addition to a nursery. Use it to make a cot quilt or have it printed onto a soft minky blanket.

This soft coral coloured star print makes baby's room less sugary pink.

Go bold with the decor and paint a massive rainbow on the wall. The hand painted feel, with brush marks and paint drips, adds to its appeal.

Elephants are always popular and this cream elephant print looks great as curtains or as a cushion cover.

Mix and match elephants on a variety of ground colours. This elephant print is on a dusty blue background and would look great as a throw.

Pale cream and white nursery decor makes a great backdrop for artwork and makes the artwork sing. I love the unconventional colours of the elephant picture above the sofa which is sweet but modern.

Giraffes come in all colours with this cute giraffe print. Some are even prancing!

Stars and flowers are great co-ordinates to a baby's room. The blue stars print would look great on a duvet cover and the cream flowers print would make a pretty throw cushion.

Going cuckoo!

We're going a bit cuckoo here at Cheeky Leopard! Today I move my furniture into my new home, so it's all hands on deck. I can't wait to start unpacking boxes and finding a new home for all my belongings as well as setting up my new studio and finding a home for my rather overwhelming collection of fabrics! I will be posting some photos of my new abode once I'm a bit more settled.

In the meantime I'm going to celebrate with this cuckoo clock cosmetic bag that I've just added to my store. I love the whimsical design of the traditional cuckoo clocks with its modern colour palette, and decided to compliment the outer print with a fab fresh pink and white star lining.

Shine like a star

When I lived in Tokyo I bought most of my clasps from a store in Kuramae. It's been there for over 80 years and is an unassuming shop nestled in the wholesale area. The majority of the people who work there are older men, who are always very friendly and helpful and like to listen to jazz. There is always something interesting playing on the radio and everyone is industriously sorting out orders and packaging things up. The shop itself is jammed full of all manner of fixings for bag making and quite a treasure trove for any bag-making enthusiast. I wouldn't have a clue what to do with most of the items there, and sadly my limited Japanese prevented me from ever learning about them. It was always a pleasure to make the trek across town, usually on their discount days when the store was heaving and all customers received 10% off their order. I aways stocked up on a load of purse frames, most of which you can see being used in my store.

While I was visiting Tokyo last November, I paid a visit to the shop and stocked up on clasps. This time I bought some beautiful purse frames with a star detail on the clasp and here is the first one I've made up. I decided to use a blue and white star fabric to match the star of the clasp. I sadly only bought four of these, so will have to be very careful with what fabrics I choose!
