Dior Resort 2020

Even when I’m lying on a beach in Mexico, soaking up the beautiful late April rays, it’s hard to avoid the social media coverage of the Christian Dior 2020 Resort collection. It was obviously a stunning event, held in a palace in Marrakesh, a city that is a melting pot of cultures and traditional design techniques. Many designers have been inspired by its history and design and for Yves Saint Laurent, it was his second home.

This collection was inspired by many artisanal techniques used in Africa, such as the waxed cotton produced by Uniwax which uses a time consuming wax resist technique that originated in Indonesia. It also uses lace techniques that blended amazingly well with the rest of the collection. As a textile designer myself, it's always great to see a collection that is rich in print and even nicer to see artisanal techniques used in a contemporary way.

Marchesa Fall 2015 Ready-to-Wear

New York fashion week is still going strong and yesterday Marchesa had its Fall 2015 Ready-to-Wear fashion show, held in the old world opulence of the St Regis Hotel. There was a heavy influence of 20s glamour in the fringing and Gatsby-esque hairstyles, and opium-inspired exoticism. This was realised in poppy motifs which bedecked many of the outfits.

All these outfits now need is a Cheeky Leopard clutch bag and I've done a little mix and match to show how well they could work with some of the outfits!

This beautiful long dress is embellished with a host of poppies around the neckline and would make the perfect match with my small obi fabric clutch bag.

Another poppy-embellished dress that pairs nicely with the large obi fabric clutch below.

This stunning silver fringed dress would work so nicely with my grey decorative obi clutch bag.

Pure purple heaven! Pleating and lace, teamed with my purple and gold clutch.

This look is so Gatsby and my metallic silver deco clutch would be a perfect match.
