Blue and white

I love blue and white pottery and decided to create some crockery-inspired designs for my Spoonflower shop. Old English plates sit alongside Chinese-inspired vases and Japanese soba cups on a crisp white background.

This fabric can be bought by the yard on a variety of fabrics or bought as ready-made items. I love this large throw pillow.

The crockery also looks nice as flower pots and the addition of the green of the foliage adds an extra dimension to the design.

I love how the plant pots look on this circular tablecloth, perfect for a table in a conservatory or for alfresco dining.

Teacups are the perfect print for afternoon tea. Print it onto a table cloth to enhance your teatime experience.....

...or use it on these gorgeous little cocktail napkins, perfect for having with an afternoon cuppa, or serve it with an early evening G&T!

The pottery also looks nice as a mosaic effect and makes a great co-ordinate to the crockery design.

I've tried it on these napkins that would look great with the pot plant table cloth above.

Madeline Weinrib

I love the fabrics, cushions and rugs produced by Madeline Weinrib. She is a painter and designer living in New York and is the grand daughter of ABC Carpet and Home founder Max Weinrib. ABC is a beautifully opulent shop and Madeline carries on the family tradition, creating a collection that uses traditional forms of production but with a fresh eye on colour. She uses lush colour palettes and opulent pattern inspired by her travels to produce a juicy collection of ikat fabrics, brightly coloured rugs, and even beautifully covered chairs and sofas. I love the blue and white ikat collection (see my Pinterest page for more) as well as the vibrantly pink rugs - not sure if I could carry it off in my home though....

She also offers a bespoke service where one can create their own tailor-made piece using the amazing array of colours on offer.

Blue and White Clutch Bag

I love the way that Kenzo mixes colour, pattern and texture to produce a beautiful collection of clothes. His Spring Summer '11 collection was no exception and after seeing the images, I was heavily inspired to make some clutch bags using the blue and white fabrics that he used. They are traditional to Japan and I have been collecting these fabrics since I first arrived here a year and a half ago. I recently started a quilt made out of the pieces and I had some left over, so decided to try out a clutch bag made from the remaining pieces. I am really pleased with the result and love the shot of hot pink lining when the bag is opened. I also added three cute printed buttons to the outside of the bag as decoration. You can find this on my Etsy store.
