Little ones

I recently created this cute collection for Makower UK. It's called Little Ones and consists of woodland animals in a soft colour palette.

This design is called 'Hugs' and includes mother and baby foxes, bunnies, hedgehogs and squirrels in a soft peach colour. I used a sketchy style for these animals.

This design is called 'Bunnies' and includes rabbits in several poses with foliage and tiny hearts on a coral stripe background.

This coral 'Ducks' design is so cute and includes pretty daisies amongst the ducks.

'Foliage' is a really versatile print and can be used for a number of fabric projects, Pair it with designs from this collection or use it for bag making or dressmaking.

Cute baby 'Deer' are silhouetted against a soft brown background and surrounded by stylised foliage.

This 'Etched' design is created in a sketchy style and includes deer, foxes and bunnies.

These 'Stars' are on a grey/brown background and are a great print for decorating a child's bedroom.

The 'Hugs' design on cream is a great neutral colour and could work for both baby boys and baby girls.

The 'Bunnies' on the yellow and cream stripe are lovely and fresh and gender neutral.

The 'Ducks' work well on a yellow background.

The 'Foliage' looks lovely and fresh on a cream background and includes ferns, florals and tiny butterflies.

The 'Etched' design also comes in a green outline on a cream background.

The 'Stars' design also comes in a teal version.

The 'Hugs' design looks so pretty on this teal background.

Golden

I recently designed this collection for Makower UK. It's called 'Golden' and is inspired by the work of Gustav Klimt. It includes swirls, textures and organic shapes in a rich colour palette with touches of metallic gold. This style of work is quite different to what I am used to designing but I enjoyed the challenge and think it came out quite well!

The main design is called Symphony and includes all sorts of elements that can be found in a Klimt painting such as circles, swirls, triangles and squares. I added texture to each of the shapes to give it a painterly feel as well as adding texture to the background to give it depth.

These textured triangles are designed in shades of red, orange and brown and make a great colour carrier for fabric projects such as quilting.

I scroll design is always pleasing to design and this one has a textured background with touches of red and orange that can be found in other designs and this makes it a great co-ordinate.

These loose squares create a mini patchwork effect.

This wavy stripe contains a lot of pattern, Some pattern is taken from other designs in the group as well as being mixed with new designs.

The Symphony pattern has been designed in three colours and this is a good mid-range tone.

This textured print is called 'Engraved' has been taken from the main print but created in a tonal colour palette.

The triangle design looks great in tones of green, yellow and brown.

Stripes are always a good addition to a collection and with this stripe I decided to make it wavy with added dots.

This decorative stripe looks great in green.

Decorative scroll in a tasty green colour.

Hello kitty!

I designed this kitty collection recently for Makower UK and I'm really pleased with it! The collection is called Whiskers and consists of cute cats in a variety of poses, along with paw prints and flowers in a bright colour palette.

The main design comes in two colour choices and this one is on a deep teal background.

In this design, cheeky cats play with balls of wool. I'm loving the bright pink background.

Paw prints and hearts on a mustard yellow background.

Pretty floral print in shades of blue and yellow.

The main design also comes on a cream background.

Jewel Tones

I really enjoyed designing this collection for Makower UK. We decided to call it Jewel Tones as it is beautifully rich and opulent and the colours all work really well together. Needless to say, my favourite print is the leopard print!

Cheeky leopards are surrounded by delicate foliage coloured in a similar palette to the background.

Each leopard design has a matching leopard print in similar colours.

The leopard print makes a great co-ordinate to the leopard design.

I designed this sarasa print as a lovely decorative addition to the animal prints. It incorporates stylised leaves and flowers in vibrant colours.

Some of the leaves have been created using a dotty effect which softens them and adds interest and depth to the design.

Multi colour hummingbirds flutter on a cream background.

We also added a dark teal background as a rich background for the bright hummingbirds.

Sail Away

At the weekend I paid a visit to Creative Quilting fabric shop in East Molesey. I regularly go there to pick up wadding and forage for interesting fabrics and I came across some fabrics that I designed for Makower UK. The collection is called Sail Away and has a fresh nautical theme which includes boats and beach items. The style of the group was inspired by the look of linocuts, with their stylised feel and irregular linework.

The fabric I bought was this fabulous boat print on a rolling sea background. The boats are incorporated into the sea but stand out boldly too.

Other designs in the collection include beach huts, boats, nautical icons and crabs! I love the quirkiness of the crabs and think it would make a great lining to a bag.

These ten inch squares use a different nautical scene in each one and were designed to be used as panels for cushions or for making into beach bags. They could also be used as table mats.

This border print is lovely and bold and uses many of the images from the other designs.

The border print is perfect for making into little girl's dresses. This one was in the window of Creative Quilting.
