Kimono scarf

I lived in Tokyo for four years and during that time I amassed a rather large collection of kimonos and kimono pieces. I often went to shrine sales where you could find some amazing pieces and I would always gravitate towards the brightly coloured fabrics or the ones with bold prints. Sometimes I bought a whole kimono and sometimes I would just buy small pieces of kimono. I didn't always know what I would do with these fabrics, but was drawn to them for a reason.

I soon realised that the smaller kimono pieces I bought were perfect for making into patchwork kimono scarves. The more the fabrics and colours clash, the more interesting it becomes as a finished piece.

Vibrant purple sits next to soft green and over-sized florals and butterflies become abstract shapes.

Every angle of the scarf looks different and you can change the feel of it depending on how you wear it.
