Basara Patchwork

I went to an exhibition last night called Basara at the Sprial building. Basara is a term associated with the challenge of ideals during the Muromachi period. Most of the art on show was inspired by Samurai and motorbike gangs, but one of the exhibits immediately caught my eye. It was a beautiful patchwork made up of an array of brightly coloured Japanese fabrics that flowed from a loose kimono shape. I'm not sure what the meaning of it was, but it was stunning!
