The Museum of Anthropology is situated just across the road from the Botanical Gardens and so I headed over there to check it out. It’s an immense 1960s building made of white marble and with a solid canopy held up by a large carved bronze column with water cascading down it. The museum takes visitors through the history of Mexico, before the arrival of the Spanish and is fascinating! I loved the brightly coloured textiles and solid stone carvings. At the far end of the museum, doors open up to an ancient temple surrounded by bamboo. It’s an amazingly serene setting, considering the traffic that is passing just behind it!
