Happy Monday

Happy Monday! I had a lovely weekend, although I was a tad foggy on Saturday due to overindulgence on Friday night. I cooked a meal for a group of lovely local friends and we put the world to rights over a few bottles of wine and bubbly. It was a fab night, but went far too quickly.

On Saturday afternoon Neil and I headed over to Stoke Newington to have a mooch around. It's an area I know absolutely nothing about, but had read in Saska Graville's London Style Guide that Church Street was a good place to head to. There was a great selection of little independent shops there, as well as a plethora of coffee shops and cafes to choose from. My favourite shop was Search and Rescue, which sells a lovely eclectic mix of items in a stripped down, polished concrete-floored space. Geometric cushions and quirky stationery items sit alongside vintage-inspired crockery, all working very pleasingly together.

We then made our way down to Dalston to sample the new Hawker House pop-up restaurant. It is inspired by the hawker centres of Singapore, where a selection of London's best street food vendors offer sumptuous snacks. It opened on 30th January and will only be around for ten weeks, on Friday and Saturday nights, until the ex-office space it occupies gets converted into flats. The food stalls and bars spread out over three floors with a massive choice of snacks and drinks to choose from. I highly recommend it, but get there early (it's free to get in before 7pm), otherwise you will have to queue.
