A recent trip to Hiroshima was a rich and interesting experience. A very moving, yet necessary visit to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum was first on the list. We were amazed at what the city had been through, yet its resilience and strength in rebuilding itself to the thriving place it is today.
We were very impressed by the amount of art museums in Hiroshima and the wonderful selection of art works that each of them had on offer. On top of this, the architecture of each of the museums was also impressive and made for an all-round pleasing experience. At the Hiroshima Prefectural Museum of Art, we came across the Japanese artist Katsuzo Entsuba who created these wonderfully evovactive wooden sculptures. I love the roughly hewn shapes mixed with the chalky addition of painted areas.
